snehācca sajjano nityaṃ janturduḥkhamupaiti ca | snehamūlāni duḥkhāni snehajāni bhāyāni ca
Lomaharṣaṇa (Sūta)
Scene: A noble person (sajjana) is shown bound by a soft but tightening cord labeled ‘sneha’; from it sprout dark shapes of ‘duḥkha’ and ‘bhaya’—illustrating how attachment births sorrow and fear.
Virtue alone does not prevent grief if attachment remains; fear and sorrow dissolve as clinging is reduced.
