Hierarchy of Sacred Place, Time, and Ritual Fruit
चतुर्विंशतिलक्षं वा गायत्र्या जपसंयुतः । ब्राह्मणस्तु भवेत्पात्रं संपूर्णफलभोगदम्
caturviṃśatilakṣaṃ vā gāyatryā japasaṃyutaḥ | brāhmaṇastu bhavetpātraṃ saṃpūrṇaphalabhogadam
Брахман, совершивший джапу Гаятри — до двадцати четырех лакхов (2,4 миллиона повторений), — воистину становится достойным сосудом, способным вкусить полные и совершенные плоды обряда и дхармы.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Significance: Establishes a dharmic criterion of pātratva: a brāhmaṇa disciplined by extensive Gāyatrī-japa becomes a ‘fit vessel’ for receiving offerings connected with Śiva-pūjā, ensuring ‘complete fruit’ (saṃpūrṇa-phala) for donor and rite.
Type: gayatri
Shakti Form: Lalitā
Role: teaching
It teaches that sustained mantra-japa purifies the practitioner and creates adhikāra (fitness), making one a proper pātra to receive and realize the full fruits of dharma and Shiva-oriented worship.
In the Shiva Purana’s ritual framework, inner purity and mantra-discipline support effective Saguna Shiva worship (including Linga-pūjā), because the devotee becomes a ‘worthy vessel’ for grace and for the rite’s complete results.
Regular, counted japa—specifically Gāyatrī-japa up to very large totals (like 2.4 million)—as a discipline that builds steadiness, purity, and eligibility for higher Shaiva practices.
