Inquiry into the Impurity of the Body

Чистота намерения (внутренний настрой) — это высшая чистота; во всех действиях только она является истинным мерилом. Иначе, из-за ложного отношения, можно обнять возлюбленную, как если бы она была дочерью, или дочь, как если бы она была возлюбленной.
Lord Shiva (instructing Devi Umā/Parvati in the Umāsaṃhitā’s philosophical discourse)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
It teaches that bhāva-śuddhi (inner purity of intention) is the supreme śauca; without the right inner orientation, even “correct” actions become spiritually unreliable and can lead to adharma.
In Linga and Saguna Shiva worship, outer offerings (water, bilva, bhasma, mantra) gain merit only when aligned with pure devotion and right understanding; the verse prioritizes inner bhāva as the real pramāṇa of worship.
Before puja or japa, cultivate bhāva-śuddhi through brief inward recollection of Shiva as Pati (the Lord) and sincere repentance/resolve; then perform mantra-japa (e.g., Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with steady, non-harming intention.
