FAQs

The verse highlights the Shaiva principle that adharma inevitably ripens into bondage through karma: even powerful beings are restrained by the tapas and truth of ṛṣis. In Shaiva Siddhānta terms, worldly power cannot override the moral order; only turning toward Pati (Śiva) dissolves the deeper fetters.

By showing the limits of demonic ambition (“I will rise again”), the verse implicitly points to Saguna Śiva as the supreme regulator of dharma whose grace alone stabilizes the worlds. Linga-worship in the Purāṇa is presented as aligning oneself with that divine order rather than resisting it through ego and violence.

The practical takeaway is humility and repentance supported by Shiva-upāsanā: japa of the Pañcākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") and regular Tripuṇḍra-bhasma application to cultivate surrender, reducing the tendency to repeat harmful resolve (“again I will return”).
