Chapter on the Ordinance of Initiation
स्मृतमात्रेण विष्णोश्च नारदस्समुपस्थितः । नत्वा स्तुत्वा पुरस्तस्य स्थितोभूत्सांजलिस्तदा
smṛtamātreṇa viṣṇośca nāradassamupasthitaḥ | natvā stutvā purastasya sthitobhūtsāṃjalistadā
В тот самый миг, как только Вишну лишь вспомнил о нём, Нарада тотчас явился. Затем, поклонившись и вознеся хвалу перед Вишну, он стоял там со сложенными в анджали руками.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Offering: pushpa
It highlights the potency of smaraṇa (remembrance): a purified mind and sincere intent can invoke immediate divine assistance, and the proper inner posture is humility—bowing, praising, and standing with folded hands.
Though the scene involves Viṣṇu and Nārada, the Purāṇic teaching supports Saguna upāsanā: remembrance, stuti (hymn), and namaskāra are core limbs of devotion also used in Liṅga worship, where mental recollection and reverence are treated as effective worship.
Practice smaraṇa with añjali-bhāva: begin japa (such as the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with a brief mental invocation, then offer stuti and sit/stand in a composed, reverent posture.
