Description of the Battle between Tāraka and Kumāra
āsīnniṣkaṃṭakaṃ sarvaṃ hate tasmindurātmani | te devāḥ sukhamāpannāssarve śakrādayastadā

It teaches that when adharma (the “wicked-souled” force) is removed, the world becomes “thornless,” symbolizing the restoration of harmony and the easing of obstacles on the path of dharma and liberation under Shiva’s cosmic order.
In Shaiva understanding, Saguna Shiva protects the cosmic balance by removing disruptive forces; worship of the Linga honors Shiva as Pati (the Lord) who grants śānti (peace) when disorder is subdued, outwardly in the world and inwardly in the mind.
A practical takeaway is śānti-oriented japa—repeating the Panchākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—to remove inner “thorns” like fear and agitation, supported by simple Shaiva disciplines such as Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and devotion.
