It teaches that perceived individuality and “otherness” arise due to upādhis (limiting conditions). In Shaiva Siddhanta, liberation comes by Shiva’s grace when the soul (paśu) is freed from the coverings that make it identify as separate.
Saguna forms and names help the bound soul approach Shiva through devotion, but this verse reminds that names and classifications belong to conditioned perception. Linga-worship leads the mind from form and designation toward Shiva as Pati—beyond limiting adjuncts.
Meditate while reciting the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), offering bhasma and/or wearing rudrākṣa with the intent to dissolve upādhis—reducing egoic identification and resting awareness in Shiva as the inner Lord.
