В битве Индраджит, сын Раваны, стремительный в деянии, пронзил Саумитри (Лакшману), отмеченного благими знаками, стрелами, летевшими с неистовой быстротой.
Lifting his long, strong huge, great terrific bow endowed with high speed and holding it drawing arrows seated in a chariot well decorated, drawn by black horses, Indrajith looked like God of Death.
Auspiciousness (śubha-lakṣaṇa) does not prevent suffering; dharma is tested under pain. The epic teaches that righteousness is proven by perseverance, not by exemption from hardship.
Indrajit intensifies his attack and wounds Lakṣmaṇa with very high-velocity arrows.
Lakṣmaṇa’s steadfast dedication to duty (brotherly service aligned with dharma) is highlighted by his continued presence in the war despite injury.
