Rāvaṇa’s Assault on Nīla and Lakṣmaṇa; Hanumān Bears Rāma
रावणेनैवमुक्तस्तुमारुतिर्वाक्यमब्रवीत् ।।6.59.65।।धिगस्तुममवीर्येणयस्त्वंजीवसिरावण ।
rāvaṇenैvam uktaḥ tu mārutir vākyam abravīt | dhig astu mama vīryeṇa yas tvaṃ jīvasi rāvaṇa ||6.59.65||
Так обращённый Раваной, Марути ответил: «Позор моей доблести, если ты, Равана, ещё жив!»
Ravana having spoken in that way, Maruti said "Oh Ravana! What a shame on my valour, you survived."
The verse reflects the dharmic urgency to end oppression: Hanumān measures his action by its effectiveness against adharma, holding himself accountable rather than indulging in complacency.
After Rāvaṇa praises him, Hanumān retorts sharply, expressing dissatisfaction that Rāvaṇa remains alive.
Accountability and fierce commitment to the mission—Hanumān’s refusal to be softened by praise.
