रामदूतं च मां विद्धि सुग्रीवसचिवं कपिम्।सोऽहं दूत्येन रामस्य त्वत्सकाशमिहागतः।।।।
rāmadūtaṃ ca māṃ viddhi sugrīvasacivaṃ kapim | so ’haṃ dūtyena rāmasya tvatsakāśam ihāgataḥ ||

'I am a vanara, a messenger of Rama and minister of Sugriva.You may know that I have come here to convey the message of Rama to you.
Dūta-dharma (the ethics of an envoy): Hanumān speaks truthfully, states his identity openly, and frames his presence as a legitimate diplomatic mission rather than covert malice.
In Laṅkā, Hanumān stands before Rāvaṇa and formally declares himself Rāma’s messenger and Sugrīva’s minister.
Satya and clarity of purpose: Hanumān’s fearless, transparent self-identification shows integrity and confidence in righteous duty.
