Dānavas are a class of powerful beings traditionally described as descendants of Danu; they often appear in Purāṇic narratives as opponents who disrupt sacrifices or divine plans.
The verse states that certain Dānavas arrive with the explicit aim of creating an obstacle, acting under summons/invitation connected with Rudra and Brahmā, emphasizing how hindrances arise within cosmic events.
Purāṇic episodes like this commonly frame obstacles (vighna) as tests within sacred undertakings, implying the need for steadiness and right intention when facing forces that attempt to disrupt dharmic action.
