The Greatness of Kāśī (Kāśī-māhātmya) and Avimukta’s Liberative Power
आदेहपतनाद्ये तु सेवंति ह्यविमुक्तकम् । ते मृता हंसयानेन दिव्यान् लोकान्प्रयांति हि ॥ ४७ ॥
ādehapatanādye tu sevaṃti hyavimuktakam | te mṛtā haṃsayānena divyān lokānprayāṃti hi || 47 ||
Но те, кто от самого начала и до падения тела служат священному Авимукта (кшетре), — умерев, воистину отправляются в божественные миры, вознесённые на небесной «лебединой» колеснице.
Sanatkumara (teaching Narada in the Avimukta-mahatmya context)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It declares that lifelong service (sevā) to Avimukta (Kāśī) bears a post-death fruit: the devotee is carried to divine realms, highlighting the extraordinary salvific merit of this tīrtha in the Uttara-bhāga.
Bhakti is expressed as sustained sevā—continuous reverent attendance to the holy kṣetra and its sacred discipline—showing that steady devotion maintained until life’s end leads to an exalted spiritual destination.
The verse mainly emphasizes tīrtha-sevā and dharma rather than a specific Vedāṅga; practically, it implies correct observance of kṣetra-dharma and pilgrimage conduct (ācāra) as taught in Purāṇic ritual frameworks.
