Ritual is tied to saṅkalpa (directed intention): remembrance and purpose (abhidhyāna) are integral to dharmic action, not optional additions.
Ānucarita/dharma-upadeśa: a prescriptive insertion about pitṛ rites within narrative.
‘While breathing’ hints that prāṇa is the carrier of transformation; the rite’s outer form mirrors an inner offering where breath and intention ‘libate’ the ancestral impressions (saṃskāras).
