दानमेव हि सर्वत्र सान्त्वेनानभिजल्पितम् | न प्रीणयति भूतानि निर्व्यजजनमिवाशनम्
dānam eva hi sarvatra sāntvenānabhijalpitam | na prīṇayati bhūtāni nirvyajjanam ivāśanam ||
Воистину, при любых обстоятельствах дар, поднесённый без мягких, добрых слов, не радует живых существ — как и пища без приправы и без угощения не насыщает человека.

Charity is most effective when joined with gentle, pleasing speech; giving without kind words fails to truly satisfy or delight the recipient, just as plain food without accompaniments feels incomplete.
