द्यावापृथिव्योरित्येष राजन्‌ वेदेषु पठ्यते । तयो: शकलयोर्मध्यमाकाशमकरोत्‌ प्रभु:

Transliteration

dyāvāpṛthivyor ity eṣa rājan vedeṣu paṭhyate | tayoḥ śakalayor madhyam ākāśam akarot prabhuḥ |

Translation

Яджнявалкья сказал: «О царь, в Ведах читается формула “Дьява–Притхиви” (Небо и Земля). Из пространства между этими двумя половинами Владыка сотворил срединную область — акашу (ākāśa), простор между небом и землёй. Так предание учит, что упорядоченный космос возникает силой божественной и мерным разделением, а не хаосом».
