भीमसेनस्य कौरवसुतवधः तथा श्रुतर्वावधः

Slaying of Kaurava princes and the fall of Śrutarvā

विवर्णमुख भूयिष्ठम भवत्‌ तावकं बलम्‌ । परिक्षीणायुधान्‌ दृष्टवा तानहं परिवारितान्‌

vivarṇamukha bhūyiṣṭham abhavat tāvakaṁ balam | parikṣīṇāyudhān dṛṣṭvā tān ahaṁ parivāritān |

Санджая сказал: Большая часть твоего войска пала духом; лица их побледнели. Увидев их с иссякшим оружием и окружённых со всех сторон, я — отбросив привязанность к жизни — соединился ещё с четырьмя великими колесничими и вместе с отрядами слонов и конницы вступил в бой против сил, ведомых Дхриштадьюмной. Эта картина показывает, как отчаяние и окружение ломают боевой дух, и всё же как воины, связанные верностью и долгом, продолжают сражаться даже тогда, когда надежда на спасение почти исчезает.
