Escalation of Wagers and Shakuni’s Repeated Declarations of Victory

जगाम तेषां सा रात्रि: पुण्या रतिविहारिणाम्‌ । स्तूयमानाश्व विश्रान्ता: काले निद्रामथात्यजन्‌

jagāma teṣāṃ sā rātriḥ puṇyā rativihāriṇām | stūyamānāś ca viśrāntāḥ kāle nidrām athātyajan ||

Так минула для них та благочестивая ночь, проведённая в любовных утехах. Когда настал надлежащий час, вполне отдохнув и услышав на рассвете хвалебные песни придворных певцов, они поднялись и оставили сон. Стих подчёркивает придворный ритм царской жизни: наслаждение ограничено временем и общественным долгом, и даже утехи сменяются упорядоченным пробуждением и церемониями хвалы и служения.
