Escalation of Wagers and Shakuni’s Repeated Declarations of Victory
सो$5भिपत्य तदध्वानमासाद्य नृपते: पुरम् प्रविवेश महाबुद्धि: पूज्यमानो द्विजातिभि:
so 'bhipatya tad-adhvānam āsādya nṛpateḥ puram | praviveśa mahābuddhiḥ pūjyamāno dvijātibhiḥ ||
Вайшампаяна сказал: Быстро одолев тот путь и достигнув царского города, Видура, великий разумом, вошёл в столицу, почитаемый и встреченный с благоговением дважды-рождёнными.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights that wisdom and righteous conduct (as embodied by Vidura) command spontaneous honor from the learned; social reverence is portrayed as properly directed toward ethical intelligence rather than mere power.
Vidura hastens along the road, reaches King Yudhiṣṭhira’s city, and enters the capital while being respectfully welcomed by the dvijas (twice-born), indicating his recognized stature as a wise and honorable counselor.
