Entry into Girivraja and Jarāsandha’s Protocol Inquiry
devair api visṛṣṭāni śastrāṇy asya mahīpate | na rujaṃ janayiṣyanti girer iva nadīrayāḥ ||
Worldly and even superhuman force is portrayed as ineffective against one who is protected by an extraordinary, steadfast power—illustrated by the image of a mountain unmoved by a river’s rush—encouraging courage and steadiness in a crisis.
Śrīkṛṣṇa addresses a king and offers reassurance about a particular person’s invulnerability: even divine weapons will not cause him injury, using a natural simile (river vs. mountain) to emphasize the certainty of protection.
