अध्याय ९ — कर्णस्य प्रहारः, योधयुग्मनियोजनम्, शैनेय-कैकेययोर्युद्धविन्यासः
उपतिष्ठस्व भर्तारिमन्यं वा वरवर्णिनि । इत्येवं यः पुरा वाचो रूक्षाश्नाआरवयद् रुषा
upatiṣṭhasva bhartārim anyaṁ vā varavarṇini | ityevaṁ yaḥ purā vāco rūkṣāś cārvayad ruṣā ||
Вайшампаяна сказал: «О светлоликая, служи своему мужу — или, если пожелаешь, другому». Так некогда, в гневе, он произнёс грубые слова, ранив её своей резкой речью.
