Shloka 57

निश्चक्रमुर्घोरतराणि योधा- स्ततो हााहन्यन्त समन्ततो<डपि । उस दिव्यास्त्रसे शूल, फरसे, चक्र और सैकड़ों नाराच आदि घोरतर अस्त्र-शस्त्र प्रकट होने लगे, जिनसे सब ओरके योद्धाओंका विनाश होने लगा ।।

sañjaya uvāca |

niścakramur ghoratarāṇi yodhās tato hāhā hanyanta samantato 'pi |

atha divyāstrāṇi śūla-paraśu-cakra-śataśo nārācādayo ghoratarāḥ prādurabhavan, yaiḥ sarvato yodhānāṃ vināśo 'bhavat ||

chinnaṃ śiraḥ kasyacid ājimadhye papāta yodhasya parasya kāyāt |

taṃ dṛṣṭvā dvitīyo 'pi bhayāt dharāśāyī babhūva |

taṃ patitaṃ dṛṣṭvā tṛtīyo yodhah tatraiva palāyitaḥ |

anyasya yodhasya hastisūṇḍāsadṛśī sthūlā dakṣiṇā bāhuḥ saśastrā chinnā papāta ||

Санджая сказал: Тогда воины обрушили оружие всё более страшной силы, и со всех сторон поднялись крики муки, когда люди падали сражённые. Из того божественного астра явились копья, секиры, режущие диски и сотни железных стрел-нарача, неся гибель бойцам во всех направлениях. В самой гуще сражения отсечённая голова воина из вражеского стана упала на землю, отделённая от тела. Увидев это, другой рухнул от ужаса; увидев его павшим, третий обратился в бегство. А в ином месте толстая правая рука воина — словно хобот слона — была отсечена вместе с мечом и упала на землю.
