Arjuna’s targeted advance; Śalya–Karṇa dialogue; interception attempts
cakrāṇi cāpaviddhāni tomarāṁś ca mahāraṇe | nānāvidhāni śastrāṇi pragṛhya jayagṛddhinaḥ ||
The verse highlights how the craving for victory can intensify conflict and multiply means of harm; ethically, it invites reflection on restraint and dharma even within the unavoidable duties of war.
Sañjaya reports the battlefield scene: combatants seize and hurl chakras, spears, and many other weapons in the great fight, emphasizing the ferocity and variety of arms used.
