The Exploits of Śaineya/Sātyaki amid Encirclement
pāṇḍavānāṃ tu sainyeṣu nāsti kaścit sa bhārata | dadhāra yo raṇe bāṇān droṇacāpacyutān prabho ||
The verse highlights how sheer martial excellence can dominate the battlefield, reminding readers that in war the visible advantage may belong to the most skilled fighter, even when broader questions of dharma and justice remain unresolved. It also conveys the psychological reality of conflict: morale and endurance can collapse under an overwhelming assault.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Droṇa’s attack has become so formidable that no warrior in the Pāṇḍava host is able to bear the arrows he shoots from his bow. This functions as a narrative intensifier, portraying Droṇa as temporarily unstoppable.
