तमेक॑ छादयामासुर्मेघा इव दिवाकरम् । भीष्म भागीरथीपुत्र प्रतपन्तं रणे रिपून्
tam ekaṁ chādayāmāsur meghā iva divākaram | bhīṣma bhāgīrathīputra pratapantaṁ raṇe ripūn, paraṁtapa ||
Санджая сказал: Как тучи закрывают солнце, так те герои покрыли Бхишму — окружили его толпами пеших, конных и колесничих и осыпали бесчисленными стрелами. И все же тогда Бхишма, сын Бхагиратхи (Ганги), стоял один на поле брани, яростно обжигая вражеские ряды — о покоритель врагов!
