पूपान् पुनर्वसौ दत्त्वा तथैवान्नानि शो भने । यशस्वी रूपसम्पन्नो बद्धन्नो जायते कुले
pūpān punarvasau dattvā tathaivānnāni śobhane | yaśasvī rūpasampanno baddhānno jāyate kule ||
Нарада сказал: «Даруя сладкие лепёшки (pūpa) во время Пунарвасу (Punarvasu) и так же поднося пищу, человек рождается в благородном роду, наделённый славой и красотой.»

Generous giving—especially of food and festive offerings at an auspicious time—creates merit that ripens as favorable life circumstances: birth in a good family, along with fame, beauty, and secure sustenance.
Nārada is explaining the results (phala) of a specific charitable act: donating sweet cakes and food during the Punarvasu observance. He states the auspicious outcomes that accrue to the donor in a future birth.
