Śulka, Kanyā, and Dauhitra-Riktha: Discourse on Bride-Price and Inheritance Rights
vipulas tu guror vākyam avicārya mahātapāḥ | sa tathety abravīd rājan taṃ ca deśaṃ jagāma ha ||
The verse highlights dharmic discipline in the guru–disciple context: a worthy disciple carries out the teacher’s instruction without contrarian second-guessing (avicārya), showing self-control and trust in rightful authority.
Vipula receives his guru’s instruction, assents with “tathā” (“so be it”), and goes to the indicated place, where he finds many fresh, unwithered flowers that had fallen from the sky.
