तानि निर्मथ्य मनसा दध्नो घृतमिवोद्धृतम् । प्रपितामह ब्रह्माजीने जो दस हजार नाम बताये थे, उन््हींको मनरूपी मथानीसे मथकर मथे हुए दहीसे घीकी भाँति यह सहख्रनामस्तोत्र निकाला गया है ।।
tāni nirmathya manasā dadhno ghṛtam ivoddhṛtam | gireḥ sāraṃ yathā hema puṣpasāraṃ yathā madhu ||
Ваю сказал: «Перемолов в уме те (древние божественные имена) — как из простокваши извлекают топлёное масло (гхи) — был извлечён этот гимн тысячи имён. Он — сама квинтэссенция: как золото есть сущность, добытая из руды, и как мёд есть сущность, собранная из цветов».
