अध्याय १६ — शङ्कर-उमा-वरदानम् तथा तण्डि-स्तुतिः (Śaṅkara–Umā Boon-Granting and Taṇḍi’s Hymn)
उपमन्युरुवाच एतान् दत्त्वा वरान् देवो वन्द्यमान: सुरभि: | स्तूयमानश्व विबुधैस्तत्रैवान्तरधीयत
Upamanyur uvāca: etān dattvā varān devo vandyamānaḥ surabhiḥ | stūyamānaś ca vibudhais tatraivāntaradhīyata ||
Упаманью сказал: Даровав эти дары, божественный Владыка — почитаемый Сурабхи и прославляемый богами — исчез там же, на том самом месте. Этот эпизод показывает: искренняя преданность и праведная хвала приводят к божественной милости, но присутствие божества остаётся неуловимым, являясь и скрываясь по собственной воле.
