apare rudrasaṅkāśāḥ kīrtitā brahmalaukikāḥ | aputro labhate putraṁ daridro labhate dhanam ||
The verse teaches the power of reverent remembrance and recitation of exalted sages: praising them is presented as a meritorious act that elevates one toward Brahmaloka and yields worldly and familial well-being, linking devotion and ethical reverence to tangible and spiritual fruits.
In Bhishma’s instruction to Yudhiṣṭhira in the Anuśāsana Parva, he continues listing and extolling great ṛṣis and the benefits of honoring them. This verse functions as a phalaśruti, stating the rewards of reciting their names and praises.
