Educational Q&A

That ritual acts (yajñas) must be understood in terms of their properly performed procedure and their full range of results—ethical and spiritual—extending to both worldly welfare and posthumous (afterlife) merit.

Yudhiṣṭhira addresses Bhīṣma (the Grandsire), acknowledging that Bhīṣma has already explained sacrifices and their benefits, and he frames the discussion that follows—within the Dana-dharma section—toward practices like vows/fasting and their fruits.
