अनुपष्नन्‌ पितुर्दायं जड्घाश्रमफलोडध्वग: । स्वयमीहितलब्धं तु नाकामो दातुमहति

Transliteration

anupṛśnan pitur dāyaṃ jaṅghāśramaphalodvahaḥ | svayam īhitalabdhaṃ tu nākāmo dātum arhati ||

Translation

Бхишма сказал: Если старший брат, не умаляя и не посягая на отцовское наследство, отправится в чужие края и наживёт богатство одним лишь трудом своих ног — собственным усилием и работой, — то это богатство есть плод его личного старания. Потому, если он не желает давать, он не обязан делиться с братьями тем, что заработал сам.
