Regular listening to and recitation of a dharmic narrative is itself a disciplined practice; when grounded in sadācāra (good conduct) and vrata (ethical observance), it yields spiritual merit culminating in attainment of auspicious realms.
At the close of the discourse, Bhishma gives a phalaśruti—an assurance of the fruit of the teaching—telling the king that daily hearing and proclaiming this account leads to blessed destinations by the power of righteous vows and conduct.
