Praise of Ācāra as the Basis of Longevity, Fame, and Prosperity
इन्द्रियाणि सकृत्स्पृश्य त्रिरभ्युक्ष्य च मानव: । कुर्वीत पित्र्यं दैवं च वेददृष्टेन कर्मणा
indriyāṇi sakṛt spṛśya trir abhyukṣya ca mānavaḥ | kurvīta pitryaṃ daivaṃ ca vedadṛṣṭena karmaṇā ||
Бхишма сказал: «Однажды коснувшись органов чувств (например, глаз) и затем трижды окропив себя водой, человек должен после этого совершить приношения богам и предкам — согласно деянию, предписанному Ведами».
भीष्म उवाच
Before undertaking sacred acts, one should observe a brief purification—touching the sense-organs and sprinkling water thrice—and then perform divine and ancestral offerings strictly according to Vedic injunction, emphasizing disciplined, scripture-guided conduct.
In Bhīṣma’s dharma-instruction discourse (Anuśāsana Parva), he lays down a practical rule of ritual preparation and then directs the listener to proceed with deva- and pitṛ-related rites in the Veda-approved manner.
