Ādi Parva, Adhyāya 115 — Mādri’s request; invocation of the Aśvins; birth and naming of the Pāṇḍavas
ayaṁ tv anantaras tasmād api rājā bhaviṣyati | etad ū vinrūta me tathyaṁ yad atra bhavitā dhruvam ||
The verse foregrounds responsible speech and counsel in matters of rulership: one should state the truth (tathyam) and what is certain (dhruvam), not merely what is pleasing, especially when decisions about kingship and succession are at stake.
A question is being pressed about whether a later-born successor can become king. The speaker urges the listeners/advisers to deliberate and then report the inevitable outcome clearly and truthfully.
