Suta Goswami (narrating the vrata/discipline taught in the Linga Purana tradition)
It frames Linga-centered Shaiva practice as sustained sādhana: a year-long, scripture-guided discipline that purifies kalmaṣa and stabilizes the devotee in nirveda, making worship and life itself an offering to Pati (Shiva).
Implicitly, Shiva is Pati—the liberating Lord—approached not by momentary rites alone but by purification and vigilant detachment; as the pashu’s impurities decline, receptivity to Shiva’s grace and right knowledge increases.
A regulated vrata culminating in bhikṣu-caryā (disciplined alms-wandering) marked by atandratā (vigilance) and nirveda (dispassion), aligning with Pāśupata-oriented purification and restraint.
