Dhyāna of Hari and the Procedure of Āditya/Sūrya Worship
मनोविरहितं तद्वन्मनोधर्ंमविवर्जितम् / बुद्ध्या विहीनं देवेशं चेतसा परिवर्जितम्
manovirahitaṃ tadvanmanodharṃmavivarjitam / buddhyā vihīnaṃ deveśaṃ cetasā parivarjitam
Так же не следует почитать Владыку богов как лишённого ума, отрешённого от функций ума; и не следует считать Его лишённым разума или исключённым из сознания.
Lord Vishnu (speaking to Garuda)
Concept: One should not conceive/worship the Lord as mindless, intellect-less, or consciousness-less; divinity is not inert absence but supreme awareness.
Vedantic Theme: Brahman/Īśvara as cit (consciousness) rather than jaḍa; correction of misconstrual of nirguṇa as ‘non-conscious’.
Application: In meditation and worship, avoid projecting deficiency onto the divine; balance apophatic negation with affirmation of consciousness and auspiciousness.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: vira
Related Themes: Garuda Purana passages affirming Vishnu/Paramatman as jnana-svarupa and antaryamin; Garuda Purana bhakti sections emphasizing personal Lord with awareness and grace
This verse cautions against conceiving the Lord as mindless or unintelligent; proper worship requires acknowledging divine consciousness rather than negating it.
By emphasizing right understanding of the divine (as conscious and knowing), it points to correct inner orientation—an essential basis for dharmic living and spiritual progress that shapes the soul’s journey.
In prayer or meditation, avoid mechanical practice; cultivate mindful devotion that recognizes awareness, discernment, and consciousness as central to spiritual life.
