Matsya-avatāra: The Lord as Fish Saves the Vedas and Guides Satyavrata
nāhaṁ kamaṇḍalāv asmin kṛcchraṁ vastum ihotsahe kalpayaukaḥ suvipulaṁ yatrāhaṁ nivase sukham
In this verse, Matsya tells King Satyavrata that the small water-pot is uncomfortable and asks him to arrange a larger, spacious dwelling—showing the Lord’s līlā as He gradually reveals His extraordinary nature.
Matsya spoke this to prompt Satyavrata to move Him from the pot to larger bodies of water, allowing the king to witness the fish’s miraculous growth and recognize divine intervention before the coming dissolution.
Serve with attentiveness: when devotion outgrows limited habits or environments, expand one’s capacity—through better discipline, sacred association, and larger commitment—so spiritual life can be practiced “comfortably” and steadily.
