Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Dharmashastra","secondary_vidya":"Samanya","practical_application":"Guiding gurukula discipline: post-training residence, dependence on guru for food, and continued observance of brahmacarya vows to complete education ethically.","sutra_style":true}

Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Procedure","entry_title":"Antevāsī conduct after mastering skills: continued residence and guru-provided sustenance","lookup_keywords":["gurugṛha","antevāsī","brahmacarya","kṛtaśilpa","gurupātra"],"quick_summary":"Even after completing studies, the student should stay for the stipulated term in the teacher’s house, living as an antevāsī and accepting food through the guru’s provision, thereby fulfilling the vow’s discipline and its fruits."}

Concept: Vidya is completed by vinaya and niyama: learning is not merely skill-mastery but disciplined living under the guru’s guidance.

Application: Students maintain humility and routine (residence, regulated food, service) even after proficiency, ensuring character formation and proper closure of training.

Khanda Section: Dharma-shastra / Brahmacharya-vidhi (Gurukula discipline and student conduct)

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: bhakti

Type: Ashrama/Gurukula

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A serene gurukula: a skilled student remains in the guru’s home, serving, studying, and receiving a simple meal only through the guru’s allowance; palm-leaf manuscripts and ritual fire nearby.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural; guru seated near a small sacred fire, student standing with folded hands receiving alms-food from guru’s household; palm-leaf manuscripts, simple hut, calm devotional restraint.","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting; guru and student in a richly framed but simple interior; gold accents on manuscripts and lamp; student receiving a modest bowl of food as symbol of disciplined dependence.","mysore_prompt":"Mysore style; instructional gurukula scene with labeled elements: prescribed period, residence, guru-provided food; delicate lines, soft colors, emphasis on pedagogy and routine.","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature; intimate domestic courtyard of a teacher’s house; student serving and then receiving food; detailed manuscripts, water pot, and shaded veranda; quiet scholarly atmosphere."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"devotional","suggested_raga":"Yaman","pace":"slow","voice_tone":"contemplative"}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: kṛtaśilpopi = kṛta-śilpaḥ + api; gurorgṛhe = guroḥ + gṛhe. The transmitted last pāda appears corrupt in the prompt (…stratphalaptadaḥ); normalized as tat-phala-pradaḥ based on likely intended reading.

FAQs

It teaches gurukula protocol: even after completing study, the student should remain for the stipulated term, live as an antevāsī, and accept food through the guru as part of brahmacarya-vrata discipline.

Alongside rituals, polity, and other sciences, the Agni Purana also codifies social-ethical frameworks—here, practical educational and disciplinary norms of the guru–śiṣya institution.

Residence with the guru and regulated sustenance are treated as components of vrata; disciplined obedience and restraint are said to secure the ‘phala’ (merit and maturation) of brahmacarya.
