Related Themes: Agni Purana 338 (guṇa/doṣa and rasa-related enumerations)
It imparts kavya-śāstra (Sanskrit poetics) terminology by defining the eight pauruṣa-guṇas—core aesthetic/personality excellences used to evaluate a hero (nāyaka) or elevated style in literature.
By cataloging precise aesthetic qualities (guṇas) alongside the Purana’s many other disciplines, it shows the text’s encyclopedic scope—extending from ritual and dharma to systematic Sanskrit literary theory.
Cultivating these virtues—steadiness, depth, generosity, and radiant excellence—supports sattvic character formation, aligning conduct and speech with dharma, which is traditionally held to generate पुण्य (merit) and social harmony.
