अथ । ह । पैङ्गलः । याज्ञवल्क्यम् । उपसमेत्य । द्वादश-वर्ष-शुश्रूषा-पूर्वकम् । परम-रहस्य-कैवल्यम् । अनुब्रूहि । इति । पप्रच्छ ।
atha ha paiṅgalo yājñavalkyam upasametya dvādaśa-varṣa-śuśrūṣā-pūrvakaṃ parama-rahasya-kaivalyam anubrūhīti papraccha ||1||
Então, Paiṅgala, aproximando-se de Yājñavalkya após doze anos de serviço e discipulado atento, perguntou: “Instrui-me no supremo segredo — kaivalya, a libertação na absoluta solitude do Ser.”
Then indeed Paiṅgala, having approached Yājñavalkya after twelve years of service and attentive discipleship, asked: “Teach me the supreme secret—kaivalya (absolute aloneness/liberation).”
