Skanda Purana — Prabhasa Khanda, Shloka 117

न वा सन्तोषितो देवो भक्त्या त्रिपुरनाशनः । प्रदास्यति गतिं नूनं प्रेतत्वं न गमिष्यति

na vā santoṣito devo bhaktyā tripuranāśanaḥ | pradāsyati gatiṃ nūnaṃ pretatvaṃ na gamiṣyati

E se o deus Tripuranāśana (Śiva) não for verdadeiramente satisfeito pela devoção, certamente não concederá o caminho salvador; assim, a condição de preta não chegará ao fim.
