कन्या सदा दुःखकरी नृणां पते स्त्रीणां तथा शोककरी महामते । तस्माद्विमृश्य सुचिरं स्वयमेव बुद्ध्या यथा हितं शैलपते तदुच्यताम्
kanyā sadā duḥkhakarī nṛṇāṃ pate strīṇāṃ tathā śokakarī mahāmate | tasmādvimṛśya suciraṃ svayameva buddhyā yathā hitaṃ śailapate taducyatām
«Uma filha», ó senhor entre os homens, «é sempre causa de dificuldade; e para as mulheres também se torna motivo de tristeza, ó magnânimo. Por isso, ó senhor das montanhas, reflete longamente com o teu próprio discernimento e então diz o que for verdadeiramente benéfico.»
