तथा प्रकृतयो राज्ञः शुचजित्वेन प्रतिष्ठिताः । इन्द्रेण च कृतं पापं तेन पापेन वै द्विजाः । नानाविधैर्महातापैः सोपद्रवमभूज्जगत्
tathā prakṛtayo rājñaḥ śucajitvena pratiṣṭhitāḥ | indreṇa ca kṛtaṃ pāpaṃ tena pāpena vai dvijāḥ | nānāvidhairmahātāpaiḥ sopadravamabhūjjagat
Do mesmo modo, os súditos do rei firmaram-se em vencer a tristeza e em pureza. Mas quando Indra cometeu pecado, por esse pecado—ó brāhmaṇas—o mundo ficou afligido, cercado por muitas espécies de grandes tormentos e perturbações.
