वेदारंभे विसर्गे च विदध्यात्प्रणवं सदा । अफलोऽनोंकृतो यस्मात्पठितोपि न सिद्धये
vedāraṃbhe visarge ca vidadhyātpraṇavaṃ sadā | aphalo'noṃkṛto yasmātpaṭhitopi na siddhaye
No início da recitação védica e ao seu término, deve-se sempre entoar o Praṇava (Oṃ). Pois, sem a pronúncia de Oṃ, a recitação torna-se infrutífera e não conduz à realização, ainda que seja lida.
