देवा अपि पितॄन्स्वर्गे यजंत इति मे श्रुतम् । एतदिच्छाम्यहं श्रोतुं विस्तरेण ब्रवीहि मे
devā api pitṝnsvarge yajaṃta iti me śrutam | etadicchāmyahaṃ śrotuṃ vistareṇa bravīhi me
“Ouvi dizer que até mesmo os Devas, no céu, veneram os Pitṛs. Desejo ouvir sobre isso—dize-me em detalhe.”

The verse highlights the universality of dharma: even celestial beings honor the Pitṛs, showing that gratitude, lineage-duty, and karmic continuity are sacred obligations within Shaiva ethics.
In Shaiva practice, honoring the Pitṛs supports dharmic order and purifies one’s karmic field, making Linga-worship and devotion to Saguna Shiva more fruitful; it frames ritual duty as an aid to inner purification that leads toward Shiva’s grace.
It points toward Pitṛ-tarpaṇa and Pitṛ-yajña (offerings and remembrance of ancestors) performed with purity and devotion; such observances can be integrated alongside daily Shiva worship and japa of the Panchakshara mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya).
