It affirms that dharmic sacrifice—especially protecting cows, honoring brāhmaṇas, and safeguarding rightful sacred/social order—creates strong puṇya that leads to a pleasant post-death state, preparing the soul (paśu) for Shiva’s higher grace.
In Shaiva practice, devotion to Saguna Shiva is not isolated from conduct: service, protection, and charity are seen as offerings (upacāra) to Shiva’s living presence in dharma, supporting purity needed for Linga-worship and mantra-japa to bear fruit.
A practical takeaway is to pair Shiva-bhakti (Panchakshara japa, Tripuṇḍra/bhasma, Rudrāksha) with dharmic acts like go-sevā and support of learned brāhmaṇas, dedicating the merit to Lord Shiva.
