Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
It teaches that embodied spiritual life must be aligned with one’s capacity: use times of health to advance in dharma, and avoid rajasic strain during illness, preserving the body as an instrument for Shiva-oriented practice.
Linga-worship and other Saguna Shiva observances are meant to be steady and sattvic; this verse emphasizes sustainable devotion—performing worship when fit, and refraining from forced exertion when the body is compromised.
Prioritize gentle japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and simple mental worship when unwell, rather than strenuous vratas or elaborate rites; during health, maintain regular puja, bhasma/tripundra, and disciplined conduct.
