(Deva-stuti-varṇana) — “Description of the Gods’ Hymn/Praise”
Suta Goswami (traditional Purāṇic colophon closing the chapter, narrated to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
This is a colophon marking the completion of a chapter centered on the Devas’ praise of Śiva, highlighting that stuti (devotional hymn) is a direct, purifying approach to the Pati (Lord) who grants protection and liberation.
By framing the chapter as “Devastuti,” it points to Saguna worship—approaching Śiva through name, form, and qualities—commonly expressed through hymns before the Liṅga or in personal devotion, which Shaiva tradition treats as a powerful means to receive grace.
A practical takeaway is to recite Śiva-stuti with devotion—ideally alongside pañcākṣarī japa (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”)—as a simple daily sādhana, especially before worship of the Śiva-liṅga.
