FAQs

It portrays the cosmic function of protection (rakṣaṇa) carried out by Viṣṇu within the larger Shaiva framework where Shiva is the supreme Pati; the outer battle mirrors the inner removal of demonic tendencies like pride, violence, and delusion.

In Shaiva Siddhanta, Saguna Shiva is worshipped as the Lord who governs all divine powers; even when other deities act fiercely in the world, the devotee centers the mind in Shiva (often through the Liṅga) to transcend anger and duality.

Use the battle imagery for japa and inner discipline: repeat the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) while contemplating each mantra-cycle as ‘cutting off’ one negative impulse; support it with Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and calm breath to cool krodha (anger).
