Sūta Gosvāmin (traditional Purāṇic narrator concluding the chapter to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
Sthala Purana: This is a colophon (adhyāya-samāpti) naming the chapter’s subject—Viṣṇu–Dadhīci conflict—rather than a shrine-origin narrative; it frames the episode as part of Śiva’s overarching supremacy and the pedagogy of dharma.
Significance: Textual śravaṇa/pāṭha of Śiva Purāṇa chapters is treated as puṇya-generating; the colophon signals completion, a traditional moment for phala-śruti style reflection and dedication of merit.
This is a colophon verse marking the completion of a chapter; its spiritual value is to preserve the textual lineage and context, reminding the reader that all narrated events are situated within Śiva’s Purāṇic framework where dharma ultimately culminates in reverence to Pati (Śiva) as the supreme liberating Lord.
Though it does not directly mention Liṅga worship, it situates the narrative inside the Rudra Saṃhitā and Satī Khaṇḍa—sections that consistently present Saguna Śiva as the guiding divine presence behind cosmic events, encouraging devotees to read such histories as supports for bhakti toward Śiva’s manifest grace.
No specific rite is prescribed in this colophon; a practical takeaway is to conclude study with śānti-pāṭha or japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), dedicating the merit of reading to Lord Śiva.
